NEW DELHI: The newly launched diesel variant of Nissan India’s small car, Micra, will pose a great threat to the likes of Swift diesel, Ritz diesel, Ford Figo diesel and other hatchbacks. Nissan Micra diesel is strategically priced between Rs 5.59 lakh and Rs 6.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The petrol version of Nissan Micra was launched in India a few months ago and till now the company has sold around 6000 units. The diesel Micra will be produced at Nissan India’s Oragadam plant near Chennai.
Powered by the popular 1.5-litre Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDI) K9K Diesel Engine, Micra diesel is positioned in the B+ segment of the Indian auto industry. The K9K Diesel Engine has been mounted for the very first time in India on Nissan’s versatile ‘V’ platform.
The hatchback comes with 8-valves and 4-cylinder that generates 47Kw (64PS) @ 4000 rpm. The torque output of the small car is 160Nm @ 2000 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Nissan Micra dieselVariants:
Nissan Micra diesel will be available in two variants – XV and XV (premium).
Colours:
Micra diesel is available in various colour options- Sunlight Orange, Brick Red, Storm White, Pacific Blue, Blade Silver and Onyx Black.
Price of Nissan Micra Diesel:
It comes with a price tag of Rs Rs 5.59 lakh and Rs 6.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while the ex-showroom Mumbai prices for Nissan Micra Diesel are Rs 5.85 lakh for the XV and Rs 6.33 lakh for the XV Premium variants respectively.
The middle class Indians are turning towards diesel hatchbacks in a big way because of the two obvious factors- better fuel efficiency (more mileage) and savings. The diesel small cars are more suitable and useful for people who drive 50-80 km everyday. They save on the fuel price and a better average.
Maruti Swift is clearly the leader in this segment and continues to be in great demand even after many years of its launch. The recently launched Ford Figo hatchback is yet another good competitor. In October this year, Swift clocked sales figures of 12,958 units (petrol and diesel variants) while the Figo sold 7,149 units (petrol and diesel variants).
