Reliance Comm Enters 3G Market, Launches 3G Services in 4 Cities

MUMBAI: Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company, Reliance Communications on Monday has marked itself as the second private company to enter the 3G markets in India. RComm today launched third-generation mobile phone operations in four major cities in India.

India’s second-largest mobile phone operator by subscribers, Reliance has launched 3G services in Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Kolkata on Monday. Reliance Comm will offer the 3G services in all its 13 zones by the end of March next year.

Reliance Communications has rolled out 3G services in a record time of around 100 days of receiving 3G Spectrum in the major metros of India. The company had won bandwidth to offer 3G services in 13 of India’s 22 telecom service areas, paying 85.85 billion rupees.

The 3G services being offered by Reliance Communications is capable of delivering peak speeds upto 28 Mbps and a World class 3G experience. In order to offer the 3G services, RComm has partnered with the World’s best organizations, including Nokia for devices, Facebook, Nokia and Ericsson for applications, Universal Music for content and Motricity for the Web portal.

The other services include faster access to Internet and video calls on mobile phones, for which they are going to charge the higher rates from the subscribers, which according to them will offset the price war among various operators.

Reacting to the announcement of the launch of 3G services, Shares of Reliance Communications surged 2.0% to close at 128.65 rupees on the Bombay Stock Exchange, outpacing the benchmark Sensitive Index that gained 0.9%.

Tata Teleservices Ltd. was the first to launch the 3G services in India few days back in the month of November. Bharti Airtel is next to launch the 3G services by the end of this month in the world’s fastest growing telecommunications market.

Tata Docomo Launches Album ‘Michael’ in Partnership with Sony Music

HYDERABAD: The GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, Tata DOCOMO will launch the latest and much awaited album ‘Michael’ for its subscribers in partnership with Sony Music, Tata Teleservices said on Saturday.

Announcing the partnership, Tata Docomo Head (Value Added Services) Rishi Mohan Malhotra said, “Bagging exclusive rights and partnering with Sony Music to offer the first posthumous release of Michael Jackson’s new album ‘Michael’ exclusively is offering interesting value-based service offerings. We could not let go off an opportunity, to be associated with such a prodigy, a global figure in pop culture for over four decades.”

Tata DOCOMO’s deal with Sony Music would enable its subscribers to access Michael’s Call Me Tunes, My Song, Full Songs, Videos, Wallpapers and Ringtones. The entire service will cost just 2 paise per second to subscribers, according to reports.

“Our customers will have the exclusive privilege rights to listen to his last few recorded songs, even before the launch of the album in India,” Rishi Mohan Malhotra added.

Music legend Michael Jackson’s album “Michael” has 10 priceless songs, most of which Jackson was working on when he died in June 2009 at age 50. The album also includes the ‘Hold My Hand’ duet with Akon. Other songs include, “Behind The Mask, Breaking News”, “Keep Your Head Up”, “(I Like) The Way You Love Me”, “Best Of Joy” and more.

“Hold My Hand”, a duet recorded with R&B singer and producer Akon in 2007 is the first official single on the album. With Michael Jackson’s death last year due to an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and other drugs, the international world has lost the biggest entertainment star of the last 40 years. This album is really going to be a delight for all his fans.

Nissan Micra Diesel Launches in India, Ranging between Rs. 5.59- Rs. 6.05 Lakhs

MUMBAI: The much awaited Nissan Micra Diesel has finally launched in India. Nissan Motors on Friday launched Diesel variant of Micra in Mumbai. The petrol version of Micra has been launched by company in July this year.

“The success of the petrol powered Micra in the Indian market has given us confidence to introduce the diesel variant within six months of its launch in response to popular demand,” Kiminobu Tokuyama, the Managing Director & CEO, Nissan Motor India said at a pre-launch briefing.

Nissan Micra Diesel is equipped with a 1.5 litre diesel engine, as the Mahindra-Renault Logan’s. It is an eight-valve 1.5-litre dCi engine (code name K9K). This engine produces a maximum power of 63bhp and a torque of 160Nm@2000rpm.

Speaking at the launch, Nissan R&D centre assistant chief vehicle engineer Gary Kirby said, “The wide gear coverage enables the engine to achieve quick acceleration in city driving conditions. The eight-valve four-cylinder engine generates 47kw power at 4,000 revolutions per minute (rpm).”

The car will be available in two variants XV and XV Premium with five speed manual transmission. The diesel variant will deliver a fuel economy of 23.08 km per litre. The car will be available in six dazzling colors including Storm White, Pacific Blue, Sunlight Orange, Blade Silver, Onyx Black and Brick Red.

According to the reports, the bookings for the Micra have already started and people are congregating to the nearest Nissan dealership to book their diesel hatches. Nissan Micra Diesel is similar to its Sibling Micra Petrol.

Nissan Micra Diesel is priced at Rs 5.59 lakh for XV Model and Rs 6.05 lakh for XV Premium (ex-showroom Delhi).

CVC Launches an Exclusive Website, ‘Vig-Eye’ to Expose Corruption

NEW DELHI: Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on Thursday, on the eve of International Anti-Corruption Day, launched an exclusive website, called Vig-Eye (short for ‘vigilance eye’) to expose corruption in India. The web portal would enable citizens to upload video/audio clips directly from their mobile phones exposing corruption in government departments.

Addressing a seminar on ‘Empowering citizens to combat corruption’, Central vigilance commissioner P J Thomas, who himself facing a legal challenge to his appointment, launched the website on Thursday, December 9. “Vig-Eye provides a simplified process to file complaints. The complainants will also be able to access the status of their complaints,” he said at a seminar.

“The advantage of Vig-Eye includes a simplified process of filing complaints and it will provide authentic identity of the complainant. Vig-Eye would be completely digitised and it will give online access to vigilance information,” he added.

However, when reporters asked him about the Supreme Court notice asking him to explain why his appointment should not be quashed, he remained tightlipped and said, “The matter is sub judice and I will not comment on it.”

‘Vig-Eye’ would provide the user-friendly platform for citizens so that they can disclose information on illegal activities. In order to file a complaint, citizens just need to download a mobile application software from the CVC website, www.cvc.nic.in. Thereafter, they can start uploading audios or videos. Alternatively, one can register on the CVC website or SMS on 9223174440.

The files uploaded by the citizens on the web portal will be taken up by the commission for further enquiries. The new portal would enable even common man to carry out a sting operation.

This new citizen-centric initiative by the CVC, if followed properly, would work for a more ”preventive, proactive and predictive” vigilance framework and campaign to promote values of ethics and good governance.
