U. K. Sinha Executive Profile & Biography

U. K. Sinha (born March 2, 1952) is currently the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Unit Trust of India Asset Management Company (UTIAMC), commonly referred to as UTI Mutual Fund. He is a member of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), belonging to the Bihar Cardre.

Before taking over at UTIAMC, Sinha held key positions in the Government of India, notably in the Ministry of Finance, where he was the Joint Secretary, looking after Capital Markets, External Commercial Borrowings, Banking and Currency and Coins. During his tenure at the Ministry of Finance, he spearheaded several initiatives, such as the Banking Sector reforms, and the Capital Market reforms.

He now holds the rank of an Additional Secretary to the Government of India, continuing deputation to UTI as its CMD. He also heads various committees set up by the Government of India, notably the Wheat Procurement Committee and an Advisory Committee working on the guidelines for Mutual Fund investments in the Infrastructure Sector.

He is the new chairman of SEBI taking over Mr Bhave. He is appointed as a SEBI chairman on 14 Dec 2010 and will join as new chairman in Feb 2011

Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar born June 22, 1974 is a Tamil film actor. He is the son of film producer and director S. A. Chandrasekhar. After performing uncredited roles as a child actor in films produced by his father, he made his film debut as a lead role actor in the 1992 film Naalaya Theerpu.

Since then, he acted in several films of action and romance genres. He has also worked as a playback singer in most of his films, as well as a few films starring other actors. During his career in the Tamil film industry, he has won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and was nominated for one Filmfare Award.

Yusuf Pathan Biography
Yusuf Khan Pathan (born 17 November 1982 in Baroda) is an Indian cricketer. Pathan made his debut in first-class cricket in 2001/02. He is a powerful and aggressive right-handed batsman and a right-arm offbreak bowler. His half-brother Irfan Pathan is also an Indian cricketer. Though younger than Yusuf, it was Irfan who entered the Indian team first.

Following his impressive performances in the 2007 Deodhar Trophy and the Inter-state domestic Twenty20 competition held in April 2007, Pathan was made a part of the Indian squad for the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship, held in South Africa in September 2007. He made his Twenty20 international debut in the final against Pakistan. He opened the batting for India in the match, and scored 15 runs in the process.

After a good domestic season in 2007/08, he was signed by the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League for USD 475,000 (INR 1.9 crore). In the 2008 IPL season, he scored 435 runs and took 8 wickets. He recorded the season’s fastest half century (from 21 balls) against the Deccan Chargers, and was also the Man of the Match in the final against the Chennai Super Kings.

Following his good showing in the IPL, he was selected for the Indian one-day team. After the IPL though he played all the games in the Kitply Cup and Asia Cup he got to bat only four times. He couldn’t perform very well with the bat and the ball in the Asia Cup and in the Kitply Cup and so he wasn’t selected for the Series.against Sri Lanka. He performed well in domestic circuit and impressed the selectors and was selected for the England ODI series in November. He scored a fifty off just 29 balls in the second ODI against England in Indore, on his 26th birthday.

Yusuf had made his One-Day International debut for India against Pakistan at Dhaka on 10 June 2008. He became a regular feature of the national One-Day International team, but has yet to make his test debut .

Even though Pathan could not repeat his first IPL performance in the second season, he was selected in the Indian team to play the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 championships in England. In the second of the Super 8 matches of India, he made an unbeaten 33 from 17 balls against England, despite his team losing the game and crashing out of the tournament before the semi-finals.

In late-2009, Pathan was dropped from the limited overs team after a series of unproductive performances and the allrounder’s position was taken over by Ravindra Jadeja.

In the final of the 2010 Duleep Trophy cricket tournament, Pathan scored a hundred in the first innings and a double hundred in the second and led his team West Zone to a three wicket win over South Zone. Pathan made 108 in the first innings and an unbeaten 210 from 190 balls in the second innings. This became a world record in cricket for the highest successful run chase in first class cricket history.

On 13 March 2010, Pathan scored a century off 37 balls, in an Indian Premier League match against Mumbai Indians. The innings also included record 11 consecutive hits to the boundary (6, 6, 6, 6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 4, 4, 4).

On 7th December 2010 Pathan magic seals win for India. Pathan clobbered the New Zealand attack with his aggressive innings, Yusuf Pathan smashed an unbeaten 123 from 96 balls and shared an unbroken 133-run partnership with Saurabh Tiwary to guide India to a huge target of 316 with seven balls to spare and give the hosts a 4-0 lead in the series.Y Pathan scored his maiden century against New Zealand in the 4th ODI at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium,Bangalore.,he was named match of the match. Yusuf Pathan hammered a career-best 123 not out off just 96 balls as India pulled off a thrilling five-wicket win in the fourth one-day international against New Zealand on 7th Dec, 2010 Tuesday. The all-rounder clubbed seven fours and seven sixes on the way to his maiden one-day century to help the hosts overhaul New Zealand’s challenging 315-7 with seven balls to spare at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

At the awards distribution ceremony he stated that “this knock will boost my career”.[citation needed]. Indian captain Gautam Gambhir said “I have always said Pathan can finish games on his own, and that’s what he did today,” “I had never seen something like this before. But I knew till the time Pathan was there, we would win the game.”

New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori said “It was a great game of cricket,” “We were in the game, but Pathan was pretty amazing and took the game away from us.”

Kamal Haasan was born on 7th November 1954. In 1960 he starred as a child artist in ‘Kalathoor Kannammaa’, his first movie. Ever since, he has starred in more than 150 movies, in almost all the major Indian languages – Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. His trajectory in the Indian film industry is one prototypical journey, where he started as a child artist, then continued as a romantic hero, and finally evolved into one of the best actors India has ever produced. As most of his movies are in Tamil, he might not have numbers like Amitabh Bachan or the recent stars like Shah Rukh Khan, but very few actors have given such a wide array of versatile performances over the last two decades like Kamal. He had to occasionally work through the commercial roles and trashy movies to finance the movies he wanted to produce with his heart – but the movies that resulted out of his artistic potential – they were in a class apart. 16 Vayadhinilae, Nayakan, Guna, Mahanadhi, Hey Ram and Alavandaan are some of the must-watch among his movies. Kamal Haasan was born in Paramakudi, Madras State, to a criminal lawyer named D. Srinivasan and his wife Rajalakshmi, both a part of the Tamil Iyengar caste, in the village of Paramakudi in the Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. He has referred to his parents in recent films, with references being made in Unnaipol Oruvan as well as in the song, Kallai Mattum from Dasavathaaram. Kamal Haasan was the youngest of four children, the others being Charuhasan, Chandra Haasan and Nalini Raghu. Charuhasan, like Kamal Haasan, is a National Film Award-winning actor, who appeared in the noted Kannada film, Tabarana Kathe among others, but he has semi-retired from films since of recent times. Kamal’s niece (Charuhasan’s daughter), Suhasini is also a National Film Award Winner and is married to noted director and fellow Award winner, Mani Ratnam, who collaborated with Kamal Haasan in 1987's Nayagan. Chandra Haasan has appeared as the producer for several of Kamal Haasan’s films as well as being an executive of Kamal Haasan’s home production company, Rajkamal International. His brother’s daughter Anu Haasan has appeared in several films in supporting roles, most notably in Suhasini’s Indira. His sister, Nalini Raghu is a renowened dance teacher, and Kamal Haasan later named an auditorium after his sister as Nalini Mahal. Her son, Gautham, played Kamal Haasan’s grandson in his directorial venture, Hey Ram.

Kamal Haasan, despite being born into a Hindu Brahmin family, has declared himself as an atheist; with his roles in Anbe Sivam and Dasavathaaram, both co-written by Kamal Haasan, featuring anti-theistical views. Kamal Haasan, has also been mistaken for a Muslim due to the Islamic nature of his surname, and was famously stopped for his name at Toronto Airport in 2002. The name had originated from a friend of his father, Yaakob Hassan, a Muslim freedom fighter who spent time in prison with Kamal Haasan’s father while imprisoned by the British. Yaakob Hassan had protected Srinivasan from other prisoners who hated the Brahmins. Later, he paid tribute to his friend by incorporating part of his name into his sons’ names.

Relationships

Despite his celebrated film career, his personal life had some setbacks which have been exploited by the media. In his early career, he co-starred in several Tamil and Malayalam films with noted actress Srividya. The pair were reported to have been a part of a notorious affair in the 1970s, with their relationship being explored in the 2008-released Malayalam film, Thirakkatha by Renjith, with Anoop Menon portraying Kamal Haasan and Priyamani playing Srividya. Srividya, who died in 2006, was visited by Kamal Haasan at her bedside during her final days. In 1978, at the age of twenty four, Kamal Haasan married danseuse Vani Ganapathy, who was older than him. Vani put on the mantle of costume designer for her husband’s movies and was publicized for walking along with Haasan into the Filmfare Awards South ceremony of 1980, immediately after their wedding. However, the couple split after ten years together, after Kamal Haasan began dating fellow actress, Sarika, confirming in a later interview that he and Vani have never been in touch ever since their divorce.

Subsequently, Kamal Haasan and Sarika married in 1988, with the pair having two children: Shruti Haasan (born 1986) and Akshara Haasan (born 1991). The former is a singer as well as an upcoming actress, while the latter is pursuing higher studies in Bangalore. Sarika retired from acting roles soon after her marriage with Kamal Haasan, replacing his ex-wife, Vani Ganapathy, as Haasan’s costume designer, with acclaimed work in Hey Ram. However, the pair filed for divorced in 2002, with Sarika estranging herself from Kamal Haasan by the end of the procedure in 2004. His intimate relationship with co-star Simran Bagga, who is twenty-two years younger, became the reason for the split. A brief relationship with Simran, who appeared opposite him in two consecutive ventures with Pammal K. Sambandam and Panchathantiram, followed after she ended her relationship with choreographer Raju Sundaram. However, the pair’s companionship was short-lived, with Simran going on to marry a childhood friend in 2004. Haasan now lives with former actress Gouthami Tadimalla, who co-starred with Kamal Haasan in several films in the late 80s and early 90s. He had helped her during her traumatic experience suffering from breast cancer and the pair have been in a domestic relationship since 2005. Along with Shruti and Akshara, Gouthami’s daughter, Subbalakshmi, from an annulled marriage also lives with them.

Ratan Naval Tata (born December 28, 1937, in Bombay, BombayTata Group Chairman Ratan Tata Biography Presidency, British India) is the present Chairman of Tata Sons and therefore, Tata Group[1], India’s largest conglomerate founded by Jamsedji Tata and consolidated and expanded by later generations of his family. He is also the chairman of major Tata companies such as Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Tea, Tata Chemicals, The Indian Hotels Company and Tata Teleservices.

Ratan Tata was born into the wealthy and famous Tata family of Bombay. He was born to Soonoo and Naval Hormusji Tata. Ratan is the great grandson of Tata group founder Jamsedji Tata. Ratan’s childhood was troubled, his parents separating in the mid-1940s, when he was about seven and his younger brother Jimmy was five. Early career

Ratan Tata completed his BSc degree in architecture with structural engineering from Cornell University in 1962, and the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School in 1975. He joined the Tata Group in December 1962, after turning down a job with IBM on the advice of JRD Tata. He was first sent to Jamshedpur to work at Tata Steel. He worked on the floor along with other blue-collar employees, shoveling limestone and handling the blast furnaces. Ratan Tata, a shy man, rarely features in the society glossies, has lived for years in a book-crammed, dog-filled bachelor flat in Mumbai’s Colaba district and is considered to be a gentleman extraordinaire.

In 1971, Ratan was appointed the Director-in-Charge of The National Radio & Electronics Company Limited (Nelco), a company that was in dire financial difficulty. J.R.D. was reluctant due to the historical financial performance of Nelco which had never even paid regular dividends. From 1972 to 1975, Nelco eventually grew to have a market share of 20%, and recovered its losses. In 1975 however, India’s Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency, which led to an economic recession. This was followed by union problems in 1977, so even after demand improved, production did not keep up. Finally, the Tatas confronted the unions and, following a strike, a lockoutwas imposed for seven months. Ratan continued to believe in the fundamental soundness of Nelco, but the venture did not survive.

In 1977, Ratan was entrusted with Empress Mills, a textile mill controlled by the Tatas. However, competition from less labour-intensive enterprises had made a number of companies unviable, including those like the Empress which had large labour contingents and had spent too little on modernisation. As the market for coarse and medium cotton cloth (which was all that the Empress produced) turned adverse, the Empress began to accumulate heavier losses. So, some Tata directors, chiefly Nani Palkhivala, took the line that the Tatas should liquidate the mill, which was finally closed down in 1986. In 1981, Ratan was named director of Tata Industries, the Group’s other holding company, where he became responsible for transforming it into the Group’s strategy think-tank and a promoter of new ventures in high-technology businesses.

In 1991, he took over as group chairman from J.R.D. Tata, pushing out the old guard and ushering in younger managers. Since then, he has been instrumental in reshaping the fortunes of the Tata Group, which today has the largest market capitalization of any business house on the Indian Stock Market.

Under Ratan’s guidance, Tata Consultancy Services went public and Tata Motors was listed on the New York Stock Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata Biography Exchange. In 1998, Tata Motors introduced his brainchild, the Tata Indica.

On January 31, 2007, under the chairmanship of Ratan Tata, Tata Sons successfully acquired Corus Group, an Anglo-Dutch steel and aluminium producer. With the acquisition, Ratan Tata became a celebrated personality in Indian corporate business culture. The merger created the fifth largest steel producing entity in the world.

On March 26, 2008, Tata Motors, under Ratan Tata, bought Jaguar & Land Rover from Ford Motor Company. The two iconic British brands, Jaguar and Land Rover, were acquired for £1.15 billion ($2.3 billion).a
