Peyton Manning has become one of the NFL's most marketable players, appearing in television and print ads for some of the NFL's biggest sponsors. Manning is recognized as a spokeman for the following companies: MasterCard, Gatorade, DirecTV, Sprint, Sony, the American Red Cross, and H.H. Gregg. Manning also was the spokesman for Xbox's NFL Fever games, and was featured on the covers of the games. In addition to this, he also did a feature for United Way.
Peyton Manning for United Way
On March 24, 2007, his 31st birthday, Peyton Manning hosted Saturday Night Live (SNL) with Carrie Underwood. The show was Saturday Night Live's highest household rated episode in more than 10 months. During his opening, he alluded to his most-marketable status by joking that he had accomplished two of his life goals: his team, the Colts, winning a Super Bowl and his appearance on over half of America's television commercials. He also did a parody of the United Way feature in this episodes. Entitled "Spend Time With Your Kids, So Peyton Manning Won't", it parodies those United Way commercials that show NFL players volunteering with youths in their communities and shows everything opposite about Manning. It is absolutely hilarious! This Peyton Manning SNL United Way skit is enjoying a resurgent interest on the web right now. Here is a video of the sketch:
