2008 Person of the Year: Obama named 2008 Person of the Year

Was there any doubt on who would be named TIME Person of the Year for 2008? In one of the most predictable 'Person of the Year' contests ever, Barack Obama was officially bestowed that title by Time Magazine. He was the clear choice of everyone and this result certainly was no surprise. It would have been a shock if Time gave the title to someone else. And that would have affected the magazine's credibility.

The magazine said Obama "has come to dominate the public sphere so completely that it beggars belief to recall that half the people in America had never heard of him two years ago." That is actually the gist of what Barack Obama is and what he has become. He was almost a nobody
many months ago, and now, after enduring a grueling presidential campaign that saw him rise from almost obscurity and champion the call for change in America, he is the President-elect of the United States, and poised to effect the change that Americans, and the rest of world, is waiting for.

In one of the craziest elections in American history, he overcame a lack of experience, a funny name, two candidates who are political institutions and the racial divide to become the 44th President of the United States.

Named as runners up to Barack Obama this year are Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson; French president Nicolas Sarkozy; Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin; and the Chinese film director, Zhang Yimou, who orchestrated the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Named to this year's list of 'People Who Mattered' were: Ingrid Betancourt, George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, Robert Downey Jr., Tina Fey, Richard Fuld Jr., Robert Gates, Somaly Mam, John McCain, Stephenie Meyer, Robert Mugabe, Michael Phelps, Mikheil Saakashvili, The Somali Pirates, Dara Torres, Craig Venter and Rick Warren.

Biggest Loser 6 finale winner: who won Biggest Loser season 6?

Who won The Biggest Loser season 6? Michelle Aguilar was crowned queen of all losers this season and it's a title she'll wear proudly for many years, maybe for the rest of her life. In a season that saw many ups and downs among her competitors, Aguilar was crowned The Biggest Loser: Families' winner during last night's live finale broadcast of the reality weight-loss series' sixth season. The 26-year-old assistant director from Fort Worth, Texas started the competition at 242 pounds and lost an amazing 132 pounds for a 45.45% weight-loss percentage, claiming the show's $250,000 grand prize.

Being declared Biggest Loser winner is an amazing achievement and Michelle Aguilar was rightfully proud of her feat. "I'm number one!" Michelle screamed after her victory was
announced and the season's 15 other contestants began congratulating her as confetti rained down on the finale stage. Aguilar defeated Vicky Vilcan, a 37-year-old anesthetist from Houma, Louisiana, and Ed Brantley, a 31-year-old chef from Raleigh, North Carolina who won The Biggest Loser: Families' home viewer vote to determine the third sixth-season finalist.

Season after season, it is amazing to watch contestants shed so much weight, overcoming mental physical and mental barriers in the process. This season is no different as we again witnessed their struggles and triumphs. What they achieved is very admirable, considering that most of us know first hand how difficult it is to lose even just 10 pounds. They all deserve our congratulations ans admiration, not only the winners but all of the losers as well.

The next season of The Biggest Loser has already been announced, and it is set to premiere on January 6, 2009. Watch out for it!

To recap the results of The Biggest loser 6, here are the start and finish weights (and final weight-loss percentages) of the 12 other previously eliminated contestants - as well as the order in which they were booted from the competition.

Stacey Capers, a 33-year-old contract pricing analyst from Gainesville, VA began the competition at 221 pounds and lost 65 for a weight-loss percentage of 29.41%, while her husband Adam, a 39-year-old contracts manager, began the competition at 340 pounds before dropping 80 for a 23.53% Weight-loss percentage.

Tom "L.T." Desrochers Jr., a 22-year-old cab driver from Everett, MA, began the competition at 314 pounds before dropping 78 for a weight-loss percentage of 24.84%, while his father Tom Desrochers Sr., also a cab driver, began the competition at 357 pounds before losing 87 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 24.37%

Jerry Skeabeck, a 51-year-old police sergeant from Cleveland, OH began the competition at 380 pounds before losing 115 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 30.26%.

Shellay Cremen, a 51-year-old stay-at-home mom from Royal Oak, MI began the competition at 216 pounds before losing 74 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 34.26%.

Amy Parham, a 40-year-old real estate agent from Greer, SC began the competition at 229 pounds before dropping 105 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 45.85%, while her husband Phil began the competition at 331 pounds before losing 151 pounds for a percentage of 45.62%.

Brady Vilcan, a 36-year-old pharmacist from Houma, LA, began the competition at 341 pounds before losing 117 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 34.31%.

Coleen Skeabeck, a 23-year-old receptionist from Cleveland, OH entered the competition weighing 218 pounds before dropping 64 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 29.36%

Amy Cremen, a 26-year-old purchasing department representative from Auburn Hills, MI, entered the competition at 239 pounds before dropping 104 for a weight-loss percentage of 43.51%.

Renee Wilson, a 46-year-old event manager from Fort Worth, TX -- and the mother of the season's champion Michelle -- began the competition weighing 267 pounds before dropping 106 pounds for a weight-loss percentage of 39.7%.

House season 5 episode 12: 'Painless', House 5.12 (s05e12)

'Painless', that's the tile of the next episode of House (season 5 episode 12) featuring our lovable, grouchy doctor played by Hugh Laurie. Usually, there would be a plot summary of this upcoming episode (House 5.12) by now. However, since House will be taking a Christmas break, the summary is nowhere to be found. What we have, though, is a short promo video that I have posted below. However, there is very little that we can get from the this preview as well, nothing much about the story. What it does tackle is the change of schedule of our favorite medical drama. Instead of the usual Tuesday night slot, House MD has moved to Monday nights
effective its January air date. That means 'Painless' (House season 5 episode 12 / s05e12) will be seen on January 19, 2009 so mark your calendars.

I'm sure another episode preview will come up in the coming weeks, probably after the holidays. Rest assured that I will post it here so do check back for it. The same goes for the plot summary.

The full episode video of House 5.12: 'Painless' will also be posted on this page when it becomes available later. For now, all we can do is wait. You may want to check out past episodes of House during the holidays. Just click on the House episode link on the side bar.

internet or sex?: more women prefer internet over sex!

The internet has become an integral part of our lives. Ever since its introduction to the public in the 1990s, it has gradually risen to become a necessity. In some cases it has become more important then the telephone, or even television. We spend more and more time in front of our computers doing whatever can be done online - surfing, reading, shopping, writing, listening to music, watching movies and videos, etc. It seems we can no longer imagine life without the internet. But how important really is it? Would we choose the internet over food? How about sleep? Would we choose it over sex? Hmm.

To the first two questions above, my answer is in the affirmative. I have often missed eating a meal for the sake of spending more time online, either deliberately or otherwise. And I know I'm
not alone in this. Haven't we, at times, postponed eating because we just couldn't leave what we were doing online. Haven't we ignored the growls of out empty stomachs because we would lose the train of thought on the topic we were blogging about? The same is true with sleep. I often find myself yawning uncontrollably late at night because my body wants to get some rest, yet I continue with my blogging and web surfing. Sometimes I even wonder if there is a pill I can take to postpone sleep further. He he. The internet is oftentimes so engaging that it occupies the topmost rung in our activity ladder. However, with regards to the third question - internet or sex - the latter wins pants down hands down! give me an opportunity for sex and I would gladly leave my PC! I wouldn't even shut it down for it would take time. I would just stand up and leave! Ha ha. This would be a normal reaction of many men. But for women, I doubt it, especially after reading the results of a recent survey that says most women would rather go online than have sex!

Nearly one out of two women would rather give up sex for two weeks than go without the internet during the same period, according to a new survey. While 46 percent of the women surveyed were willing to engage in abstinence versus losing their internet, only 30 percent of the men surveyed were willing to do likewise.

The survey by Harris Interactive, which questioned 2,119 adults last month, found that the gap grew even wider for both men and woman who were 18 to 34 years old. For women, the percentage of those willing to skip the sheets in favor of the web rose to 49 percent, while it climbed to 39 percent for men. And for women 35 to 44 years old, the figure jumped to 52 percent. Still, the figures for the men surprised me. I expected a much lower percentage from our side of the fence. Hmm, they probably surveyed more priests than 'regular' guys! He he.

The survey confirms what we have been experiencing the past several years - the internet is fast becoming a dominant force in our daily lives. This will be both good and bad. Good for commerce, the economy and communications, but bad news for men. But then again, let's look at the brighter side. With the results of this survey, the internet may well be the solution to the spread of AIDS and overpopulation that we're looking for.

Heroes 'Recruit' webisode: watch Heroes 'The Recruit' webisode

"Heroes: The Recruit" Another volume of Heroes has ended with its latest episode today. Heroes: Duel is the last of the series for the volume 'Villains'. Volume four (Heroes: Fugitives) is scheduled to start in February 2009. To bridge the gap between now and then, Heroes webisodes will be introduced. This is also a way to bring in new characters to the series. 'Heroes: The Recruit' is the first of these webisodes.

Similar to the previous two webisodes that introduce new characters and people with special abilities, the Heroes: The Recruit will bring in Rachel Mills, a marine who is recruited by Pinehearst to be part of a
top-secret program. Rachel, played by Taylor Cole, is one of 50 Marines recruited by Pinehurst to be injected with a serum that will give them abilities to track and capture “specials.” However, something goes wrong in the very first webisode, and eventually Rachel is facing down Angela Petrelli.

The full 'Heroes: The Recruit' webisode went live today but the video isn't available for posting yet. However, rest assured that we will stop at nothing to secure a copy of it and post it here (as always). For now, here is a short preview of this latest Heroes webisode, 'The Recruit'.

meet Shiloh Pepin, Mermaid Girl | what is Mermaid Syndrome?

Her name is Shiloh Pepin and she has become a celebrity of sorts after being featured in a recent documentary as the 'Little Mermaid Girl'. No, she didn't get that title because of her swimming skills or her love for the water but rather because of the condition. She has mermaid syndrome, other wise known as sirenomelia. It is a rare congenital deformity in which the legs are fused together, giving the the appearance of a mermaid.

Mermaid Syndrome (sirenomelia) is a very rare and often fatal deformity. It is a condition found in approximately one out of every 70,000 live births
and is usually fatal within a day or two of birth because of complications associated with abnormal kidney and bladder development and function. It results from "a failure of normal vascular supply from the lower aorta in utero. Maternal diabetes has been associated with caudal regression syndrome and sirenomelia, although this association is not generally accepted."

Shiloh Pepin is only one of three surviving sirenomelia (mermaid syndrome) patients who do not have the usual kidney and bladder complications. One of them is Milagros Cerrón Arauco of Peru born in 2004. Although most of Milagros’ internal organs, including her heart and lungs, are in perfect condition, she was born with serious internal defects, including a deformed left kidney and a very small right one located very low in her body. In addition, her digestive, urinary tracts and genitals share a single tube. The other one is Tiffany Yorks of the United States, born in 1988, who underwent successful surgery in order to separate her legs. She is the longest surviving sirenomelia patient to date.

Shiloh Pepin, the "mermaid girl", has undergone several operation to have come this far. She was born in Kennebunkport, Maine in August, 1999 with her lower extremities fused, a missing bladder, uterus, colon and vagina, with only one partial kidney and one ovary. Her parents initially anticipated she could expect only a few months of life. But thanks to an initial kidney transplant at 4 months of age, and a second kidney transplant in 2007, she is still fighting on.

Geroge W Bush Shoe Attack: shoes thrown at Bush in Iraq (video)

After successfully sneaking out of the United States and making a rare daytime landing in Iraq, George W. Bush didn't exactly expect the welcome he received. In what critics say was a victory lap of a visit, Bush was the recipient of a nasty shoe throwing incident during his press conference with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. The US president was called a "dog" and accorded the supreme insult in Muslim culture. In a sign of lingering anger over the war that will define the Republican president's foreign policy legacy, an Iraqi journalist shouted in Arabic "this is a goodbye kiss from the Iraqi people, dog," and hurled his shoes at Bush during the news conference.

Throwing shoes at somebody is a supreme insult in the Middle East. The president, however, showed he is still able to dodge and weave quite well with the shoe toss. The first shoe was heading straight for the head of George W. Bush but he made a quick move to get out of the way. Maliki tried to block the second shoe which only narrowly missed its mark.

Speaking about the incident later, George W. Bush didn't quite get the insult that was thrown at him, or was he just trying to save face. "It's like going to a political rally and have people yell at you. It's a way for people to draw attention," Bush said. "I don't know what the guy's cause was. I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it." Yeah, right. Anyone who gets a shoe, or anything for that matter, thrown at him must feel threatened, disrespected and insulted. I certainly would. (You can watch the video below.)

Bush's fleeting visit to Baghdad was aimed at marking the recent passage of a U.S.-Iraq security pact that paves the way for U.S. troops to pull out of Iraqi cities by July next year and withdraw completely by the end of 2011. It was also meant to hail a recent sharp fall in the sectarian violence and insurgency that raged after the 2003 U.S. invasion to topple Saddam Hussein, and to show support for Iraqi police and soldiers as they take on increasing responsibility.

Asked whether he had come to Iraq on a victory lap, Bush said: "No, I consider it an important step on the road toward an Iraq that can sustain itself, govern itself and defend itself. There's still more work to be done. The war is not over."

However, whatever was said or done in his Iraq visit, and whatever significance it may have for him and his administration, all of these have been overshadowed by the shoe throwing incident. The video has become a hit on YouTube and it will be the subject of ridicule in late night talk shows for days to come. Watch out for it!

Prison Break season 4 episode 15: Prison Break 4.15 (s04e15)

'Going Under': Prison Break season 4 episode 15 (s04e15) What will happen to Michael? Will the surgery be successful or will it leave him impaired? And what about Scylla? Will Mahone and Lincoln stop Gretchen before Scylla is lost forever? These are just some of the questions that need answers in this episode of Prison Break 4.15: Going Under, another exciting installment of the series this season. Michael finally goes under the knife but the flatline at the end of the preview is something very intriguing. Of course we know that he won't die in this operation as he is the central character of the story. But the question is, what will that flatline lead to?

Update: Prison Break season 4 episode 15: 'Going Under' is now available at the bottom of this post. My apologies for the delay. Enjoy watching it!

We will just have to tune in to Prison Break season 4 episode 15 (s04e15) to find out. Or for other who prefer to watch it online, wait until the full episode video is released. That will be soon, ans as always, it will be posted on this blog. Please check back regularly for it. In the meantime, posted below is a summary of Prison Break 4.15: Going Under (s04e15) and the two preview videos I found on YouTube. Hope you'll enjoy watching them as we wait for the full episode video online.

Following Linc's deal with the devil, Michael has his brain operation. Linc also extracts information from T-Bag, with whom he was recently reunited. Meanwhile, Wheeler and Lang transport Mahone to prison; and as Self and Gretchen await their prospective customer, Gretchen gets a phone call from her sister that's both reassuring and troubling. During surgery, Michael (who's conscious) gets unlikely help in unraveling the mystery of Scylla.

Survivor Gabon season finale winner | who won Survivor Gabon?

Who won Survivor Gabon? Matty? Bob? Sugar? Nobody, yet. The two-hour Survivor Gabon season finale (episode 13) will be airing in a few hours time and that's when we'll find out who will be declared as the Survivor Gabon winner / Sole Survivor.

With the exit of Crystal during the last episode, we're now left with five. Five equally capable competitors - Matty, Sugar, Bob, Kenny and Susie. If you ask me, my money is on Bob. At his age (no insult intended), he has proven that he is a real survivor, even winning challenges and beating his much younger rivals in the process. But it's not up to me, or us. The winner will be determined by the jury of castaways and I smell payback here.

UPDATE: The results are in , and it's BOB by a vote of 4-3 over, are you ready for this, Susie! Yup, Susie almost won, and I almost had a heart attack! I still can't believe the jury almost made the biggest mistake in Survivor history by letting an almost-invisible-contestant win!

With the way Ken has sneakily played this game, I don't think he'll get many votes (if at all) from the jury. Same goes for Sugar because she is part of that alliance Matty called 'The Evil Three' (Kenny, Crystal and Sugar). However, with the way she played in the previous episode by breaking away from that alliance - saving Matty from elimination by giving him her immunity and convincing Bob not to give his immunity to Ken - will the jury give her another chance, or is it a bit too late? We'll have to wait and see. As for Susie, I don't think she has a chance. Can anybody win Survivor by playing almost invisibly all season long? I don't think so. That leaves Matty and Bob.

I really thinks it's a battle between these two. I think the jury appreciates a solid player so I think it's a toss up between Bob and Matty. Well, we only have a few hours to wait before we find out who the winner is this season. Let's all watch the finale and the reunion episode as we welcome the winner and Sole Survivor of Survivor Gabon.

For those who may want to refresh their memory with what happened during Survivor Gabon episode 13, here is a recap courtesy of Wikipedia. I have also posted a preview clip of the finale.

* Immunity Challenge: The castaways would have to dig a passage under a wall, cross a maze made out of planks, and untie a series of knots that would open a gate that lead to a maze with 25 Gabonese huts. In three of the huts would be a bag of puzzle pieces. One puzzle bag at a time would need to be retrieved from the maze and dropped off at the finish platform. Once all three bags were retrieved, the first castaway to correctly assemble the puzzle would win.

Ken felt that Bob reneged on his deal to hand over the immunity necklace at the last Tribal Concil. Sugar worked on re-establishing Ken's trust in her even as she plotted with Bob to vote out Susie and Ken next. At the Immunity Challenge, Bob narrowly beat Sugar, winning immunity for the third straight time and the fifth consecutive challenge. At Tribal Council, Ken felt confident going into Tribal Council that he would not be voted out, but that confidence was misplaced as he was voted out 4-1.

* Immunity Challenge: The castaways would be given 200 wooden tiles. The first castaway to use the tiles to build a house of cards 10 feet (3.0 m) tall would win. If after 30 minutes, no castaway has built the house of cards to over 10 feet (3.0 m) tall, the castaway who builds the tallest house of cards at the end of the time limit would win.

Before the start of the final Immunity Challenge, the Final Four took the traditional journey honoring the castaways voted out before them. Susie broke Bob's challenge winning streak by having built the tallest house of cards after 30 minutes. Sugar thought about forcing a tie at the next Tribal Council due to her loyalty towards Bob for being a father figure. Bob went off into the trees to practice starting a fire, anticipating a fire making tiebreaker challenge. At Tribal Council, Sugar did force a 2-2 tie between Bob and Matty. The tiebreaker challenge was fire making, which Bob won after resuscitating his initial fire and Matty never starting a fire.

The Final Three spent their last day at camp eating the traditional feast and burning down one of the huts at the campsite. At the final Tribal Council, Charlie asked Sugar and Susie why they felt they should be voted at the "top of the totem pole" even though they were ranked the second lowest and lowest, respectively, among their tribes before the first tribal switch. He asked Bob if the "intimate cuddling and spooning all night long" was more enjoyable than he would liked to admit. Crystal asked no question of Susie, asked Bob to tell her something that Sugar didn't tell him to do, and asked Sugar why she voted her out. Ken asked Susie why she thought she deserved the million dollars and his vote, asked Sugar why she back stabbed him, and Bob about their deal over the immunity necklace. Corinne asked Susie if she would be willing to have her vocal cords removed if she were to win the million dollars. She asked Bob to show the nasty side of Bob and make her believe that he did not like Sugar. She did not ask a question to Sugar, but instead took the opportunity to criticize her. Marcus asked no questions of Susie, what Sugar would do to honor her deceased father if she were to win, and for Bob to give one example of a situation were he was responsible for his decisions. Randy asked Susie to elaborate on the time that Susie said she felt sorry for him and Sugar and Bob if they considered the consequences of putting him on the jury when they gave him the fake Hidden Immunity Idol. Matty asked Susie to tell him why Bob and Sugar were less deserving that she was of the million dollars, Sugar to reveal something that she felt that she did was evil, and Bob why Sugar and Susie were more deserving of the million dollar prize that he was. In the end, the jury voted Bob the Sole Survivor with a vote of 4-3-0 over Susie. In addition, Bob won the 'Sprint Survivor of the Season' award, earning the fan's vote over Sugar and Matty.

watch Desperate Housewives season 5 episode 11 (5.11 / s05e11)

'Home is the Place' (season 5 episode 11). Like almost all television shows this season, Desperate Housewives will be taking a Christmas. However, it's a good thing the show will leave us with this preview to tide us over. 'Home is the Place' is another episode full of laughter, drama and intrigue - the stuff the women of Wisteria Lane are known for. In this installment of the series, we will meet Andrew's in-law to-be, and as expected, all will not be well with Bree. Susan, meanwhile, will visit a gay bar for the first time, and Gabrielle and Carlos will clash over the latter's choice of a job. There will be more in tore for us as the Desperate Housewives episode (season 5 episode 11 / s05e11) premieres on January 4, 2009.

The full episode video of 'Home is the Place' will be available soon, so please check this page regularly for it. In the meantime, here are some spoilers of the forthcoming episode courtesy of desperateblog.com. I have also included a preview of season 5 episode 11 (s05e11) below. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Susan bonds with Lee (Kevin Rahm) while Jackson's away, Susan visits a gay club for the first time. She believes a shirtless guy is flirting with her, til he mentions he's gay. Susan might sleep with Lee, but not remember it afterward. We may hear but not see Jackson (Gale Harold).

Gabrielle learns one of Carlos' former associates has a job opening perfect for Carlos. Carlos, however, has decided to teach the blind, to Gabrielle's horror. Carlos and Gaby host a dinner party where they learn they might be happier than his former associate and his wife are now.

Andrew's fiance Alex Cominis (Todd Grinnell) is in the episode, as is Alex's mother (Joanna Cassidy). Look for Alex's mother Melina to clash with Bree for their sons' affections.

Lynette has to handle Warren Schilling, or otherwise he'll make trouble for Preston, who's still posing as Porter. How far will Lynette go to protect her son? Lynette catches Preston when he talks to his twin Porter on the phone.

Edie's becoming weary of Dave, who continues to act strangely.

2008 Heisman Trophy winner: Bradford wins 2008 Heisman Trophy

Who won the Heisman Trophy this year? In one of the closest races for the coveted trophy in American collegiate football, Sam Bradford of Oklahoma emerged as the winner. It was the closest vote between top two college football stars since Nebraska’s Eric Crouch edged Florida’s Rex Grossman by 62 points in 2001. The only other time the margin between first and third was smaller was also ‘01, when Miami’s Ken Dorsey was 142 points behind Crouch.

Bradford got 300 first place votes, McCoy 266 and Tebow 309. Oklahoma’s amazingly accurate and quick-thinking quarterback won the Heisman after guiding the highest-
scoring team in major college football history to the national championship game. Bradford, who leads the nation in touchdown passes with 48, received 1,726 points. Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was second with 1,604 and Tebow was third with 1,575 points.

"I was definitely surprised and I think it’s everything I imagined," said Bradford, who raised the 25-pound bronze statue with his left hand still in a cast from a recent surgery. "I think it will take a couple weeks to set in."

The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award (often known simply as the Heisman Trophy or The Heisman), named after the former college football coach John Heisman, is awarded annually by the Downtown Athletic Club of New York City to the most outstanding player in collegiate football. Although it is not the only award honoring the best player in college football, it is considered the most prestigious. It is awarded in early December before the postseason bowl games begin.

The award was first presented in 1935 by the Downtown Athletic Club (DAC) in Manhattan, New York. It was first known simply as the DAC Trophy. The first winner, Jay Berwanger, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles but declined to sign for them. He never played professional football for any team. In 1936, John Heisman died and the trophy was renamed in his honor. Larry Kelley, the second winner of the award was the first man to win it as the "Heisman Trophy."

In 1966, former Florida player Steve Spurrier relinquished his Heisman trophy to the university president Dr. J. Wayne Reitz so that the award could be shared by Florida students and faculty. The gesture caused Florida's student government to raise funds to purchase a replacement for Spurrier. From that point on, the Downtown Athletic Club has issued two trophies to winners, one to the individual and one to the school.

Colt McCoy was the early Heisman front-runner this year after leading the Longhorns to the No. 1 ranking with a victory against Oklahoma in October. Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell, who finished a distant fourth in Heisman voting, then moved to the forefront after he tossed a last-second, game-winning touchdown pass to beat Texas a month later. However, Sam Bradford closed strongest, leading his team to a string of blowout victories, including one against Texas Tech, and a spot in the BCS title game.

“This is an individual award but I feel like I’m receiving it on behalf of my teammates,” Bradford said. “I feel like our whole offense bails me out every game,” Bradford said. “They make me look good.”

"Duel": Season 3 Episode 13. As Heroes: Volume Three (Villains) comes to a close, we see them making hard choices between right and wrong, good and evil. And they must face the consequences of whatever choice they make. In the episode entitled "Duel" (Heroes s03e13), Nathan and Peter face off, and Nathan makes a move with far reaching consequences. Sylar, on the other hand, takes desperate measures at Primatech and the fates of several heroes hang in the balance. Meanwhile, Ando, Matt, and Daphne continue their quest to save Hiro. This promises to be another thrilling and action-packed installment of our favorite series.

Update: The full episode video of Heroes season 3 episode 13: 'Duel' is now available at the bottom of this post. Hope you'll enjoy watching it.

In a related development, Bryan Fuller returns to Heroes after the cancellation of 'Pushing Daisies' and hopefully, he can restore the series to its former glory after suffering a continuous decline in viewership. The writer/producer returns to the show as they're in the middle of writing the nineteenth episode of the third season and has some ideas on how to revive the excitement in the series. "People will die. And some will return. We're also going to tell fewer stories per episode. We're going to limit it to three or four with one big one that you can wrap the stories around. We're altering the structure of the show so that there's a very clear A story that takes up a larger percentage of the show so that story gets traction."

Here's hoping 'Heroes' can return to its season one glory. And in a bit of exciting casting news: John Glover - Lex Luthor's dad from 'Smallville' - has been cast to play Sylar's father. Great!

The full episode video of "Duel" will be available soon, and it will be posted on this page for your viewing pleasure. Please check back regularly for it. In the meantime, here is a short summary of Heroes season 3 episode 13 "Duel" (s03e13), plus its preview video.

After the showdown with Arthur, the Petrelli brothers find themselves against each other and Nathan makes a move that will have repercussions on the world. Sylar holds Claire, Noah, Meredith and Angela hostage, beginning a face-off at Primatech. Ando, Matt and Daphne continue their attempts to rescue Hiro and Mohinder may be their only hope.

Californication finale season 2 episode 12: Californication s02e12

"La Petite Mort" is the title of the season finale of Californication (season 2 episode 12). What is Hank Moody up to this time? How will season 2 end? That's what we're going to find out in this episode (s02e12).

After receiving critical acclaim and a Golden Globe for his role as Hank Moody, David Duchovny seems to be hitting his stride with Californication. The show is definitely one of the most interesting this season, as we are continuously treated with Hank Moody's struggles with his writing, his personal life and his addictions. What makes the show more intriguing are some parallels David shares with Hank Moody - probably the reason why his portrayal is so realistic.

Update: You can now watch Californication season 2 episode 12 'La Petite Mort' at the bottom of this page. Hope you'll enjoy watching it.

Here is a brief summary of Californication's season 2 finale. I tried to look for a preview trailer online but couldn't find any. Anyway, it's but a few days to go before wee see the actual episode so a preview may not be necessary. (Update: A preview is now available below)

Gossip Girl season 2 episode 14: watch Gossip Girl s02e14 (2.14)

What is Chuck Bass doing on top a building? Will he jump, or will he fall? That's the cliffhanger we are faced as the preview of 'In the Realm of the Basses', Gossip Girl's season 2 episode 14 installment opens. Released just after the last episode closed, it provides a good teaser for Gossip Girl s02e14 which will be shown of January 5, 2009. Yup, Gossip Girl has taken a Christmas break, leaving its millions of fans in limbo for the next three weeks.

Though no official episode summary has yet surfaced since the air date it more than two weeks away, here is what I gathered from my internet snooping:

This episode will see Chuck having a hard time dealing with his father's death, and runs away to Bangkok before his uncle Jack Bass brings him back to New York and to a worried Blair. While Jack tells Lily he wants to be Chuck's legal guardian, Chuck gets in trouble in school for smoking hash. Though headmistress Queller agrees to forget the whole incident if Chuck doesn't smoke again, Chuck lights up a joint in the office.

"In The Realm of the Basses" (season 2 episode 14 / s02e14) will also feature Blair defending Serena, Lily and Chuck from the Colony Club, an elite group of women Blair wants to join, but opts out because of their cattiness.

In a related development, Gossip Girl writer Stephanie savage recently sat down for an interview and revealed some juicy tidbits about the rest of the season. But more on that later. It will be discussed in another post here later.

The full episode video of 'In The Realm of the Basses' will be posted on this page when it becomes available soon. Please check this page regularly for it. In the meantime, here is a short preview of Gossip Girl se4ason 2 episode 14

(s02e14).

JC Tiuseco Sole Survivor: JC Tiuseco wins Survivor Philippines

Survivor Philippines has just produced its first Pinoy Sole Survivor whe JC Tiuseco was declared winner a few hours ago. In front of a full-packed liv

Survivor Philippines has just produced its first Pinoy Sole Survivor whe JC Tiuseco was declared winner a few hours ago. In front of a full-packed live studio crowd, watched by millions around the country and witnessed by former castaways of the popular reality franchise, the 23 year-old basketball player from the San Sebastian College was awarded the top prize of three million pesos for garnering the most votes from the 8-member jury of castaways. Included in the tally was an extra vote from viewers around the country, the tie-breaker if needed.

JC Tiuseco was the overwhelming choice. He garnered seven out of the nine votes available. Even in the text votes his lead was amazing, getting 93%
of the popular votes from Survivor Philippines' viewers. The prediction was right. The court heartthrob who played the game with integrity as much as intensity ended up winning. But as I was watching the proceedings earlier in the evening I thought the result would be the other way around.

During their last tribal council, when the eight-man jury of castaways were asked to make their finals spiels and comments on the two finalists (and before they cast their votes), JC was lambasted by most of them, and whatever confidence I had that he would end up winning disintegrated. Even former allies on the island didn't have nice things to say about him. Though Rob Sy, the other finalist, likewise received negative comments, I was more concerned that former allies in the group had turned against JC Tiuseco and mistook his homestretch tactics as a betrayal of their trust. It's a good thing they still voted for him to win. On hindsight, I think what we witnessed during the final tribal council was a product of good television editing, and choreography. Producers of the show must have purposely created a scenario of doubt and intrigue to add to the drama and suspense of the finale.

When the votes were being revealed it was the same case. JC and Rob were neck and neck after the first four votes. But after the commercial break, JC ran away with the win by getting the rest of the votes. The producers arranged the vote revelation sequence to provide additional suspense finale drama.

The eight-man jury (composed of eliminated castaways Charisse Yacapin, Cris Cartagenas, Zita Ortiga, Kaye Alipio, Marlon Carmen, Vern Domingo, Kiko Rustia and Jace Flores) voted wisely, in my opinion. JC played the game fairly from the start.

What's next for our first Pinoy Sole Survivor? Well, show business beckons. Though none has been written about it yet, that is usually the path taken by reality show winners in this country. And with his good looks and the thousands (if not millions) of fans he already has as evidenced by that landslide text win, it's almost a done deal.

Congratulations to JC Tiuseco, Rob Sy and the rest of the castaways. And to GMA Network, hats off to you as well. Survivor Philippines was a success not only because of the survivors and castaways, but more so because it was handled magnificently (unlike other reality shows which have been bastardized by other networks (wink, wink). Can't wait for season 2!

Ghost Whisperer season 4 episode 10: Ghost Whisperer s04e10

Melinda comes to the rescue of another lost soul in this week's episode of Ghost Whisperer entitled 'Ball and Chain' (s04e10). In another interesting (and creepy) installment this season, Melinda will assist a ghost who must face hard facts about her marriage. This is something that our heroine can relate to as she is also dealing with some similar issues of her own. As such, Ghost Whisperer season 4 episode 10 will also focus on the complicated romance between Melinda and her dead husband Jim. If you are one of many who were shocked by this twist in the story, here is what the producers of the show have to say about it (courtesy of aceshowbiz):

The death of Jim may have shocked many fans but earlier this week the show's executive producers released a statement through TV Guide, saying "Though there is plenty of aching and longing, the two of them are scrupulously respectful of each other's boundaries - he because she is grieving her husband, and she because he is grappling with memory loss. We're planning to address what friends and neighbors think, in a big way, as we move forward in Season 4."

The full episode video of 'Ball and Chain' (Ghost Whisperer s04e10) won't be available until the episode is shown. However, once it becomes available online a copy will be posted on this page like what I've done with the other episodes and the other television shows that this blog features. In the meantime, here is the preview video of Ghost Whisperer season 4 episode 10. (Don't forget to check back for the full episode video.)

Survivor Gabon episode 13: watch Survivor Gabon episode 13

"The Good Guys Should Win in the End" (season 17 episode 13 / s17e13). Crystal is out, and it's now down to five survivors going into the Survivor: Gabon finale on Sunday. Once again, trickery reigned, perpetrated of course by the mastermind, Kenny. We also saw Bob winning another immunity challenge, his fourth in a row. Clearly, this old guy has established himself as a force to reckon with, leaving his younger competitors in awe and envy. Bob has combined wit, strength and luck to remain in the competition against much younger foes. My money is definitely on him.

Aside from Bob, those still left in the competition are Jessica "Sugar" Kiper from Brooklyn, Ken "Kenny" Hoang from Westminster, Matty Whitmore from Pacific Palisades, and Susie Smith
from Charles City. Who will it be? Who will win Survivor Gabon (season 17)? Only a few days to go before we find out. For now, here is a summary of Survivor Gabon season 17 episode 13 (s17e13): "The Good Guys Should Win in the End" and a preview clip of the finale. As for the full episode video of season 17 episode 13, it will be posted on this page once it becomes available online.

Matty confronts Kenny Huang about throwing him under the bus at Tribal Council. "Kenny's playing a game. He's a mastermind, and I'm onto him," Matty says…four episodes too late. Meanwhile, Bob Crowley feels so bad about lying to Kenny about having an extra Immunity Idol, he offers to hand his immunity over to Kenny if he should be so lucky to win it.

Reward Challenge: Each member of this sparring sextet must race into the swamp and plow through a few obstacles to grab a ball, which they bring back to the start and toss through a little makeshift basketball hoop. First to get three balls in his/her net, wins. The winner gets an overnight visit to Gabon's Mayumba National Park, where he/she will tour a gorilla sanctuary, be treated to a nice meal and a shower and then get to sleep in a bed. Bob wins his second reward challenge in a row, before any of the ladies have landed one ball. He picks Crystal Cox and Kenny to go with him and sends Susie Smith off to Exile Island.

Over in exile, Susie opts for comfort and chows down on papaya. Left to her own devices, Sugar Kiper bluntly informs Matty that her alliance is with Kenny and Crystal. Then, Sugar starts crying to Matty about Kenny and Crystal's evilness, saying that she and Matty need to align with Bob in order to oust Crystal.

Immunity Challenge: The castaways must study an African mask, grab three bags of puzzle pieces, navigate an obstacle course and lay their pieces on a blank mask on the other end. All of which must be done blindfolded.

It apparently is more difficult than it sounds, as both Kenny and Bob take headers into a couple of posts and Susie and Crystal wander off the map entirely. Bob wins again! That's four challenges in a row.

Kenny tells Crystal and Sugar to tell Bob that they're voting for him so that Bob will be guilted into giving Kenny the Idol. Sugar tells Bob all about it, though. "I have a big place in my heart for you," she says tearfully. "I just think the good guys should win in the end." Then Sugar completes the ruse by going back to camp and "reassuring" Kenny-Crystal-Susie that she told Bob she'd be voting for Kenny.

Tribal Council: The jury files in. Bob hangs onto his Idol. Sugar gives Matty her hidden Immunity Idol, which she found on Exile Island way back when. Crystal is out!

'Hamster on Piano': watch 'Hamster on Piano' YouTube viral video

The actual title of the video is "Hamster on Piano Eating Popcorn" but its too long a title for this post so I shortened it a bit. It's the latest viral video success on YouTube getting thousands of hits daily. It shows a little white hamster lying on his back on the piano keys eating a piece of popcorn (exactly what the title says), and stays there even it the keys are 'played'.

It puzzles me, however, why this video is such a hit. The hamster does nothing except lie on its back. I would have understood the fuss if the little pet did tricks or something, or at least run around the piano keys. But as Time magazine
says in naming it one of the top ten viral videos of the year, it's such mundane made madcap that makes us log to to YouTube.

One of the best things about the internet is its ability to make a star out of the little guy. This couldn't be truer than in the case of the wee white hamster lying on his back atop a keyboard, made famous with the help of Parry Gripp, a whimsical songwriter formerly of the group Nerf Herder who, if his random musical oeuvre is any indication, apparently has way too much time on his hands. The riff is catchy, the pet is adorable -- and, we're pretty sure, was unharmed in the making of this video. Why is it so funny? Well, as the song says, there's a hamster on a piano and he's eating popcorn...on a piano. In short, it's the mundane made madcap. That's why you log onto YouTube, right?

Dexter finale season 3 episode 12: watch Dexter s03e12 finale

How will Dexter's season 3 end? Will his wedding to Rita push through, or will Miguel's brother Ramon exact revenge on our serial killer of a hero? Can't believe the season finale of Dexter is already here (season 3 episode 12), and as with some season finales, this one's quite a cliffhanger. "Do You Take Dexter Morgan" (s03e12) promises to be an exciting finale as it ties up loose ends for our hero and, at the same time, provides a good jump off for season 4. Can't wait to watch it!

UPDATE: The full episode video of Dexter season 3 episode 12 (s03e12) 'Do You take Dexter Morgan?' is now available at the bottom of this post.

The full episode video of 'Do You Take Dexter Morgan?' (season 3 episode 12) will be available soon. As always, a copy of it will be posted on this page for the benefit of those who missed it on TV. Please check this page regularly for it. In the meantime, here is a short summary of Dexter's season 3 finale (s03e12) and its promo video (preview).

Miguel's out of the picture, but his unstable brother Ramon still poses a threat to Dexter; a potentially fatal surprise could imperil Dexter's impending nuptials to Rita; Debra learns she's in line to get her detective's shield, but troublesome news could tarnish her promotion.
