Harry winston Paris: Thieves steal $102m jewels

One of Paris's most prestigious jewellery shops has been robbed of at least 80m euros ($102m, £70m)) worth of jewels.

The four robbers on Thursday stole nearly all the jewellery on display at Harry Winston jewellers on the Avenue Montaigne, which attracts a wealthy international clientele just off the Champs-Elysees, sources said.

Reports said that the thieves made off with between $60 million to $80 million worth of necklaces, rings, watches and earrings in what appeared a meticulously planned heist. Robbers were said to know the names of several employees and as well secret storage units for jewels.

he heist comes just over a year after a similar raid on the same Harry Winston store on the Avenue Montaigne, when thieves made off with more than $25 million in baubles. That robbery was considered the most spectacular.
