India Beat New Zealand by 8 Wickets in 5th ODI


CHENNAI: India’s bowlers bundled the New Zealand team for just 103 runs and helped the team register an easy 8 wicket victory over the Kiwis in the 5th ODI here. Helped by Parthiv Patel’s unbeaten 56 and Yuvraj Singh’s unbeaten 42, India reached home in just 21.1 overs to complete a 5-0 One-day series whitewash on Friday.


Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat but their batsmen could never settle down and the Kiwis kept loosing one wicket after other as as Indian bowlers came up with a disciplined show to bundle them out for 103 in just 27 overs. It was the lowest total for the New Zealand against India in ODIs.


Chasing a small target of just 104 runs, India lost Gautam Gambhir (0) and Virat Kohli (2) early but Prathiv Patel (56 not out) and Yuvraj Singh (42 not out) ensured their side reached the target in just 21.1 overs at the M A Chidambaram Stadium.
