Police remand for J&K college lecturer


A local court today remanded to six-day police custody the college lecturer who was arrested for allegedly setting a paper for BA examinations loaded with questions on the recent unrest in Kashmir.

Noor Mohammad Bhat, a lecturer in a government college, was produced before City Judge Syed Adnan who sent him to six-day police custody.
Bhat, a lecturer in Gandhi Memorial College, was arrested yesterday under the Unlawful Activities Act and some sections of the CrPC.

Students appearing in the English paper for BA, B.Sc. and B.Com annual examinations were shocked to find questions related to the current turmoil in the Valley.

Are stone-pelters the real heroes?" was one of the questions.

The students were also asked to translate a paragraph in Urdu to English which was laden with allegations of human rights violations by security forces during the recent turmoil in the Valley.
